In 1879, José Teixeira Pinto Vasconcellos established a wine exporting business, which for several years he carried on alone.

His original lodges, as time passed, were found to be insufficient and were enlarged, while the stocks were in the same way successively increased to meet the demand principally of the European market, until it was found necessary to seek collaborators to carry on.

Since 2011, the Firm is owned by Christie’s Port Wine Producer & Shipper, Ltd. Christie’s invested a lot on the recovery work of the estate Quinta Dona Mafalda located at the Douro Valley and returned to the estate winemaking ancestral traditions. The winerie produces every year approximately 30.000 litres of wine, on nearly 7 hectares. At the present time the Firm ships Port Wine to the whole world.
